Plan Ahead:
Before starting to design, decide what it is you really need. Consider
the types of animals and number, and the size they can grow to.
Your pet's requirements for hear and humidity may influence the
design. If you have other pets, dogs or cats, you made need to make
the terrarium strong enough to withstand them. The more you know
about your pet's ideal habitat, the better your chances of building
suitable housing.
Drawing the plans:
Now that you know more or less what you want, it's time to make
some sketches. Make sure you have a measuring tape. Figure out the
size you want your terrarium, and then think about where you'll
put it. Measuring the sizes of doorways - if it is too big, you
may need to build it in the room where it will stay. If you plan
on moving soon, then either make it a size that will fit through
the door, or make it easy to take apart. Don't forget to check the
size of your car's trunk! There's nothing quite like trying to fit
in a sheet of glass that you just had cut and finding it's an inch
too wide. Knowing what size you need, figure out the dimensions
of the individual panels that make it up. Take into account any
posts that you'll need in the corners, or other features. Start
simple - build a box. You can add the three guest bedrooms for the
lizard-in-laws and the pool area later.
